My research explores object agency and introduces non-traditional frameworks for understanding an object’s role both within its historical context and in contemporary discourse. I focus on material culture from the Medieval and Early Modern periods—spanning the 6th to 14th centuries—examining cultural ideologies surrounding objects in Western European, Mediterranean, and East Asian civilizations.
